About The Teacher
Greetings! This page gives me a chance to tell a little bit about myself. I graduated from Indiana State University and have taught grades K-8. I have been teaching at Mayo for several years and love being a part of this school. Sixth Grade General Science and Literature are the subjects I presently teach, as well as being a sponsor for the yearbook, student council and team leader. I enjoy getting involved with the happenings at Mayo and seeing what our students will contribute to the school and community every year. My husband Kirby and I have two sons. My oldest son is a “Fightin' Engineer” who graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He works as a mechanical engineer in Florida. My youngest son is a “Marching Sycamore” who graduated from Indiana State University as a Social Studies Education major. He currently is teaching American History here at Mayo Middle School. My husband and I keep busy with our two boys and their families, our pets (three dogs, and two cats), foster dogs, trips south, trips to Indiana and keeping everything on the home front cleaned up! We love to travel to historical and/or “science” places when we have the time. We are both Tennessee Volunteer fans (no we are not Illini fans!) and are looking forward to the days when we can retire to the great state of Tennessee/Indiana or if I had my way Alaska! For now, I love teaching here at Mayo and going to ISU and RHIT to watch their games.
Mission For The Class
My mission for this class is to make science fun and interesting. I want my students to see that science is all around them and to understand the "why" of what is around them.
