As a 6th grader you should be aware of local and world events going on around you. You were to read the Scholastic Magazine that was passed out in class last week and select one article to write about.

Question: Name your favorite article and why you like this particular article. You must cite from the article and explain why it is your favorite piece in the magazine. You will need 3 or more sentences in your answer.

This article is called “The Rise of The Jellyfish” I like this article because is talking about jellyfish and what they are all about. It says “ Jellyfish have tenticals covered with thousands of needle like stingers.” When a jellyfish comes in contact with another sea creature,it shoots venom from its stingers into the victim to kill or paralyze it.

My favorite article in the “Scholastic Magazine” was “Remembering Maria.” Why I chose this article is because it shows you what happened during Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. In the text it sayed “September 20, 2017, is a date the people of Puerto Rico will never forget.” When I think of that cite I always think that if they won’t ever forget that date it makes me think that Hurricane Maria was one of the worst hurricane that has ever hit land. I also picked this cite I felt like this was a very important Social Studies topic. That is why “Remembering Maria” is my favorite article.

My favorite article in the Scholastic News is “The Rise of The Jellyfish”. This is my favorite article because when it’s a sunny day swimmers go down and visit the gooey blobs. It says “they don’t know it but countless strange gooey blobs lark below the surface.” There are more than 2,000 different kinds of jellyfish, and they are all different sizes. During the month of June Jellyfish stung 2,000 people.

My favorite article in the "Scholastic News Magazine" is "Should You Keep Money You Find?". The reason why I chose this article is because it tells you good reasons why you should or should not keep money you find. As said from the article it gives a good reason not to take money you find by saying,"Instead of keeping the cash, you should try to find the person it belongs to. If it's a lot of money, you should hang up flyers or turn it over to a grown-up you trust." Which I think is very grown-up and mature, but that is in my opinion
though other people might think differently.

The article i like the most is the money article. I like the money article the most because it teaches you that if you find money its not always wrong to keep it. It also teaches you that when you find money its not always right to keep it either. It had so much information that some kids wont know that but now they will from reading that article.

The Scholastic Magazine article that I favored the most was the article about Harry Potter. I enjoyed reading the series and watching the movies with my sister Keeley, so the article really came close to home for me! The article is really informational and easy to follow in terms of text, even if you haven't read the books or any of the movies. All in all, the article was super wonderful and informed me of things I didn't know about the wizarding world and its creator.

The article I liked was should you keep money you find on the ground. The reason I like this article is because it was like a debate. Their was a yes side and a no side. I picked the no side because I believe that is stealing. If someone was handing it to me and dropped it and someone took it I'd say hey that's mine give it back. That is why I like this article.

My favorite article in the scholastic news was " The Rise of the Jellyfish because it talks about how that there are more than 2,000 types of jellyfish in the world!" It also says that "You can find them ranging from smaller than your pinky finger to almost as big as a car isn't that amazing! A couple other things it says are " Jellyfish are not really fish they are invertebrates which means they don't have a backbone" which you can pretty much tell that they don't have a backbone because the flop all around. one last thing amazing thing about jellyfish is that their umbrella like head is mostly made up of water "95 percent water I think that is so cool!

My favorite article is " The Rise of the Jellyfish' because it talks about all of the different types of jellyfish and they talk about how the jellyfish are becoming more dangerous. In paragraph 11 it says that 2,000 people in Daytona beach that 2,000 jellyfish stung that many people. This can prove why jellyfish are becoming more dangerous over time. This is why i like this article.

My favorite story in scholastic news is the debate of whether to keep the money. I think you should not keep the money because somebody may need it for food.my second reason is because they could not know how to get money for their families. (After all, the person who lost the cash might really need it.) That is the reason I think we should not keep money that is not areas

The article I liked the most was "Remembering Maria" because, there is a lot of information, I also just like information about hurricanes in general. What I found interesting about the article was "A recent study estimates that the storm and the long power outages caused the death of about 3,000 people. More than 100,000 others left the island to the U.S. mainland." In my opinion I would of left as well because I would of been scared because it said the wind speed was going 115 miles per hour, and tore roofs off buildings. That is why "Remembering Maria' was my favorite article.

I read the article titled, "Growing Up With Harry Potter". I really liked it! Did you know that more than 180 million books have been sold in the U.S. alone? I for one, think that is very fascinating! I own and have read all of the Harry Potter books, and watched all of the movies. I have the whole series starting with "The Sorcerers Stone" through "Deathly Hallows". I also have the screen play of the "Cursed Child", the 8th book, and many more to this subject. One example is the, "Hogwarts Library". The article talks about a girl who was not familiar with Harry Potter until her teacher told her to try and read it. After she read the first book, she immediately fell in love with the series and read all of them, just like me.

My favorite scholastic news article was Remembering Maria. September 20, 2017, that is a day that Puerto Rico will never forget. A kid named Raul Hernandez he was only 9 years old. He will mostly never forget Maria. That was the strongest hurricane in the history. He remembers his house and town flooding. With winds at the high of 115 miles per hour it tore buildings and roofs apart to nothing. Maria dumped more than 20 inches of rain on much of Puerto Rico. It tore up pipes so people did not have clean water for months. Raul’s family did not have electricity for months. His school did not open till three weeks after but power did not come till about mid-January. About 300 people died. That must have been scary they hope to never see one like Maria again. 

My favorite article is "Remembering Maria" I really liked it because it talks about a family struggling. The article says " As Maria struck. Raul and his family huddled inside their home in the town of Toa Baja. Raul remembers the rain pounding his home and flooding his street. Winds of 155 miles per hour tore the roofs of buildings near by." This is why this article is my favorite because I love hearing stories about other peoples hurricane experiences.

My favorite article is “The Rise of the Jellyfish” because that there were 2,000 people who were stung by jellyfish. Another reason I like this article is because that when they kill they stick out there needles and then they shoot it at them and they start to die slowly. I think that it is impressive that 2,000 people were stung by jellyfish. It says “during two weeks in June, jellyfish stung about 2,000 in Daytona Beach, Florida. One of my old dentist offices had an old jellyfish tank but to be honest I don’t know if it was a real jellyfish or not.
